Winter Wonderland
This year, snow won’t be the only thing glistening in the lanes around Marienplatz. Tourism boss Gabriele Weishäupl recently announced the creation of a new light display this year, called “Winter Fairy Tales.” Light creations will span Rosenstrasse, trees will be lit on the Rindermarkt and around the Alter Peter and the facade of the Ruffini House will be lit as well. The € 60,000 display is a response to a proposal that suggested fostering more of a continuation between the Christkindlmarkt on Marienplatz and the Kripperlmarkt (market for nativity scenes) at the Rindermarkt, enhancing the attractiveness of the latter. Other plans to bring more visitors to the Rindermarkt include increasing the number of stands on the streets leading from Marienplatz. <<<
