Designparcours

Designparcours explores challenges and responsibilities of future design

From February 28 through March 9, the sixth annual Designparcours will celebrate Munich’s multifaceted design scene. Themed “Generations,” Designparcours will present works by young and upcoming Munich designers alongside established names such as Herbert H. Schultes, Konstantin Grcic and Stefan Diez. The event will also explore the challenges and responsibilities of future design in a world of aging people. A “Bar of Generations” at the Designparcours’ headquarters—the former power plant at Müllerstr. 7—opens a forum for discussion on the interactive themes of social responsibility and aesthetics. Besides there will be exhibitions of all disciplines: from fashion and jewelry design to industrial design. At the same time, numerous satellite locations will truly turn the city into a parcourse where design objects can be found on every corner. Among the parcourse’s stops will be the Münchner Stadtmuseum, the Goethe Institut and—joining Designparcours for the first time—parts of the International Handcraft Fair at the Neue Messe. But perhaps most interesting of all, Munich’s design studios will open their doors to the public. Further information on all of the locations and a schedule of events can be viewed at www.designparcours.net. <<<
