Stamps & Medals

From March 13 through 15, philatelists from Germany and abroad will make the pilgrimage to the MOC Center Munich Freimann. During the International Stamp Show more than 100 retailers will display impressive collections of rare and historical stamps. This year’s highlight will be a special exhibition on new sport stamps published to promote the European Soccer Championships and the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing. There also will be a competitive exhibition by the Bavarian Stamp Collector Association. The show is free and open from 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays, and until 4 pm on Saturday. For more information see www.briefmarken-messe.de. Besides the stamp show, the Numismata fair will take place in an adjacent hall on March 15 and 16. Here, multitudinous offerings of antique and contemporary coins and medals, as well as bills, historical bonds and stocks will be on display. The fair will continue on to Frankfurt and Berlin after its stint in Munich, making it the world’s largest numismatic sales event. It will be open on Saturday 9:30 am to 5 pm and until 4 pm on Sunday. There is a € 6 entrance fee. For further details see www.numismata.de. MOC Munich Freimann is located near U6 Kieferngarten. <<<
