Chet Baker

In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the death of Chet Baker, the Münchner Künstlerhaus at Lenbachplatz will dedicate two nights of programming to the renowned jazz trumpet player. On May 13, vibraphonist Wolfgang Lackerschmid—a longtime musical companion of Baker—will talk about his collaboration with one of the most prominent purveyors of cool jazz. Photographs taken from Lackerschmid’s private archive and snippets of original recordings will provide a vivid portrait of the ingenious musician. A week later, on May 20, jazz journalist Marcus A. Woelfle will read from his book The Chet Baker Story, depicting the life and career of the musician he dubs the “James Dean of trumpet players.” Both nights start at 8 pm. Tickets cost € 14 on May 13, and € 12 on May 20. They can be reserved at 44 40 92 06 or purchased at the Künstlerhaus box office. <<<
