Munich Jazz Festival in November

Beboppers and swing fans will be delighted to hear that it is once again time for the Munich Jazz Festival. This year’s event runs from November 2 to November 5. Now in its eleventh year, the festival will offer a variety of performances by “German Masters & Rising Stars” as the motto suggests. The first of four evenings of music begins at the Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz, where jazz pianist Wolfgang Dauner, the Victor Alcantara Trio and the Heinz Sauer Quartett will entertain. On November 3, jazz fans will gather at the Amerikahaus for the Freedom Riders, a program, which includes text excerpts from William S. Burroughs’ novels Western Lands and Nova Express as well as music. The performance entitled “Empty Mass” will also incorporate art and video installations into the broad range of offerings. The Jazzfest-München promises a jazz infusion suited not only for purists but also for fans of bossa-, samba- and Latin-jazz rhythms. The “Ethno Olympics” at OEZ will feature guitarist Antonio Koudele on November 4. For further information, visit www.jazzfestmuenchen.de. <<< ka
