Teaching Professionals

Business English and Beyond

Local business English teachers will be pleased to hear that the thirteenth IATEFL/BESIG international conference will be held in Munich this year. BESIG, the Business English Special Interest Group, is a sub-group of IATEFL, the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language. BESIG members include both native and non-native speakers. Most of the organization’s members are in Europe, but the group also serves more than 50 countries including South America, Africa and Asia. “This conference is an ideal forum for people who wish to improve their skills in teaching Business English. It also provides a link to other people in the profession,” says Sue Morris, the event’s co-organizer. The symposium will take place from Friday, November 17, to Sunday, November 19 at Siemens AG, Koppstr. 6, 81359 Munich (Obersendling). This year’s conference, entitled “Business English and Beyond,” will explore such areas as intercultural communication, personal development, neuro-linguistic programming and e-business. The 3-day program costs DM 180 for BESIG members and DM 230 for all others, with a DM 15 surcharge for those registering on the Friday or Saturday of the event. For further information and a registration form, contact conference coordinator Avril Soecknick, Uhlandweg 37, 88239 Wangen, Tel. (075 22) 91 35 37, fax (075 22) 91 23 20. <<< ssc
