Moving Days

Believe it or not, as lovely as the summer picnic season is, you can suffer beer-garden burn out. About the time you feel the need to experience real culture instead of beer culture, Munich’s eleventh annual Tanzwerkstatt Europa will begin its program of contemporary dance workshops and performances. From July 26 to August 5, the Muffathalle and the Carl-Orff-Saal will be home to modern dance presentations. This year’s theme stresses the influence music has on contemporary dance. Several choreographers and dancers will perform the answer, affirmatively, to the question, “can the body fully express or confront a variety of musical styles through dance?” Workshops, led by various international dance professionals, may be attended by members of the public during the ten-day event. Such topics as “Physical Theater,” “Developing Choreography,” “Technique and Improvisation” “Hip Hop” and “Feldenkrais for Dancers” are covered in this year’s offerings. For information on registration and course fees as well as ticket information for Tanzwerkstatt performances, visit www.jointadventures.net or call (089) 724 25 15. <<< EK
