East Meets West

Calling all Canadians and fans of the great white north: members of the Deutsch-Kanadische Gesellschaft (German-Canadian Society), established in Cologne in 1951, wish to draw your attention to their active Munich chapter. Supporting cultural events featuring Canadian artists, writers, musicians, etc, this non-profit association brings lectures, concerts, film screenings, exhibitions and more to their members in the Bavarian capital. The group meets six to eight times a year, working hard to promote cultural understanding—in past years, this has been accomplished through student exchange programs, guest speakers from both the business and art worlds and the “Annual Event,” which was hosted in Munich last year. Whether you are interested in joining as a member (the regional group Upper Bavaria has about 200 at present) or simply finding out about the association or Canada itself, contact Udo Voigtländer at (089) 307 33 45 or Bernhard Schoemann at (089) 314 84 10. A list of the group’s upcoming events is available at www.DKG-online.de.
