Peak Season

Peak Season Eager to hit the hiking trail this autumn, or already looking forward to ski season? Austria’s pristine Montafon Valley, located about 75 km south of Lindau, offers an extensive array of outdoor activities to athletes of all expertise levels, as well as to those looking for a relaxing alpine escape. Skiers and snowboarders will delight in the over 300 km of sign-posted and well-groomed pistes and cross-country skiing trails. Beginners can attend classes at one of the 11 ski schools in the valley while non-skiers stroll miles of footpaths, go ice skating or retreat to one of the indoor halls for tennis or squash. The region’s well-designed official Web site, www.montafon.at, in both German and English, provides a wealth of information about the area’s sport and leisure offerings along with links to the individual tourist offices of the 11 villages located in the Montafon Valley. The site also includes useful links for equipment rentals, ski schools, group packages, accommodations, dining, entertainment and more. Museums and cultural attractions, including a mining museum, numerous art galleries and an extensive performing arts calendar, are also highlighted on the Web site. The main Montafon Tourist Office, in Schruns, Austria, can also be reached by telephone at +43 (5556) 72 25 30.
