Skating

In case you haven’t done so yet, now is the time to swap your inline skates for ice skates and head out to one of Europe’s largest ice-skating centers, the Olympic Park. Divided into three areas, the center includes an ice stadium, an ice-skating pavilion and the training hall, of which the pavilion is the most popular. Along with the normal opening hours, there are musical evenings four times a week: rock and pop on Tuesdays, independent underground club music on Thursdays, after-work dancehall on Fridays and all-time classics on Saturdays. Saturday and Sunday afternoons are for families. If you want to join in the fun but don’t know how to skate, lessons are offered and skates can be rented. For more information log on to www.olympiapark-muenchen.de For those of you who live a long way from the Olympic Park, other ice-skating locations in Munich include the Eisbahn West, Tel. (089) 89 68 90 07, the Eisbahn Ost, Tel. (089) 63 01 91 47, the Prinzregentenstadium, Tel. (089) 47 48 08, and, if sufficiently cold, the canal leading up to Nymphenburg Palace.
