Watering Hole

Anyone who likes to combine exercise with pleasure will love the restaurant Der Hechtsprung, at Munich’s Dantebad. Opened in February 2002 and boasting a great view of the heated outdoor pools, Der Hechtsprung is a far cry from the average swimming pool snack bar. The novel interior includes a central table created from a rowing boat, porthole windows and fish mosaics. The food is both inexpensive (no dish costs more than € 7) and imaginative—the filet of pike with lemon and thyme sauce and Basmati rice is especially good. The restaurant can be reached either from the road or via the swimming pool, so you can swim first and then eat or just have a meal and watch the others slogging it out in the water. Der Hechtsprung is open daily from 11 am to 1 am. For more information call (089) 15 70 49 30.
