Lots of Hang Ups

Munich’s artothek, located in the Ignaz-Günther-Haus of the Stadtmuseum at St. Jakobsplatz, is just one of 150 locations of its kind in Germany offering affordable art to the public. Here, more than 1,500 photographs, paintings and sculptures by graduates of the Kunst Akademie and by regionally successful as well as internationally known artists can be borrowed for a fee. The lending period ranges from one to four months. Anyone living in or around Munich is permitted to rent such works providing they have valid identification and rental cards. The low costs are hard to believe—a picture for one month costs just € 2.60, € 5.10 for two months and € 10.20 for four months. To learn more about artothek or for further contact information, call (089) 23 32 52 98 or log on to www.muenchen.de/referat/kultur/referat/artothek.
