From March 7 to 15 the 14th International Book Week, one of the largest and most famous literature festivals in Germany, will take place in Munich. This year’s theme is “Literature & Music,” and more than 60 internationally renowned authors, composers and musicians will take part in the festival. Among the guests appearing are the pianist and author Alfred Brendel, the writer Geoff Dyer and the composer Violeta Dinescu, but there will be many more, covering a diverse range of performance styles, from rap to soundpoetry and jazz. For more information and details of the program visit www.fruehjahrsbuchwoche.de. If you have been inspired by this month’s travel feature to consider visiting Leipzig, you may also wish to take a look round the Leipzig Book Fair, which is being held from March 25 to 28 with the theme “Information Means Education.” There will be stands covering every type of book, from thrillers to language-teaching textbooks, and more than 200 leading international speakers from business, research and politics are expected to attend.
