Foreign Matters Slip on your kimono, sombrero or beret and head for Münchner Freiheit, where the third annual multi-cultural festival, Ander Art, will be celebrated this year on September 25. Sponsored by various international clubs and the Kulturinitiative München, the day devoted to mutual understanding will begin in the form of a parade, which will proceed up Leopoldstrasse and Ludwigstrasse to Odeonsplatz, at 10:00. Forty booths located on the square will provide everything from information to international food and drink. Song, dance, skits and music from around the globe will be presented live on stage. From noon–13:00, performances will include: the Rio Express “Brazil Show,” Sri Lankan dance, Indian theater, Kurdish dance and Russian folklore. Slotted for 13:00 and 14:00 Bolivian dance, Polish dance and percussion music by the Allstar Afro Music group will be featured, followed by Irish dance and a program stressing friendship between Germans and foreigners. From 15:00–16:00, the Chinese School of Munich will present the Lion’s Dance, and Tiempo Argentino will put on their Gaucho Show. The German-Brazilian Culture Club will demonstrate capoeira as part of activities during the 16:00-17:00 time slot. Classic Syrian music, Filipino bamboo dance and a debut hiphop musical by the West End Opera will round out the day devoted to many nations.
