Black is Back
To celebrate Black History Month the Amerika Haus is putting together a series of films that promote understanding and com-passion for the struggles and conditions of people from Africa. As part of the Black Cinema program on February 1 is Spike Lee’s 1997 film 4 Little Girls, based on the 1963 bombing of a Birmingham Baptist Church shortly before Sunday-morning services, in which four black girls were killed. Also being screened, on February 15, is Steven Spielberg’s Amistad, the story of the 1839 revolt of Africans on the slave ship Amistad and their subsequent trial in the United States.
