April 2005
North Pacific Region Exhibition
Think it’s been cold in Munich this winter? Then you’ll be thankful you don’t live in the chilly Bering Straits region. This month, the fascinating area that links Russia to Alaska is the subject of an exhibition at the
Museum für Völkerkunde (Museum of Ethnology) at Maximilianstrasse 42. The exhibition, which has been organized in cooperation with the Ajaloomuuseum (Historical Museum) in Tallin, Estonia, features 160 objects portraying 19th-century life in the North Pacific region. Exhibits include a fishskin coat, wooden hats and figures made from walrus ivory. Admission to the exhibition, which runs until January 2006, costs € 3 and € 2 for concessions, or € 1 on Sun. It is open Tues.–Sun., 9:30 am–5:15 pm. <<<
