Reality Bites
Hollywood eat your heart out. The real world offers just as many fascinating tales. Now’s your chance to catch a few of them at the 20th International Munich Documentary Film Festival, which runs from May 6 to 14. Some 100 films on a vast variety of issues and in a range of languages will be screened over the course of the festival. Highlights include a film on the construction of the “erotic gherkin”—a cucumber-esque structure designed by the visionary architect Sir Norman Foster to house the offices of the Swiss Re insurance company in London—and a work on whether business and ethics can ever go together, featuring a behind-the-scenes look at a factory in China. Screenings take place in cinemas across Munich, including the ARRI cinema, Filmmuseum, Gasteig, Maxim,
Rio Film-Palast, the HFF cinema and the Munich Literaturhaus. Tickets cost from € 6 and are available from München Ticket. For further details, visit
