New parking guiding system for the center of town
It’s just become a lot easier to find a parking space in Munich city center. As of May, the city has been operating a parking guidance system, to lead drivers from the Altstadtring to the central car parks. The system comprises 100 signs that direct motorists to free spaces. Some 58 of these are fitted with electronic display units that indicate how many spaces remain in the nearest car park. The system covers a total of 24 car parks, with a total of more than 7,400 spaces. City authorities hope the system will lead to a reduction in the number of cars driving along narrow city streets, hunting for a spot in which to park. Nevertheless, those who really want to save themselves the trouble—while doing their bit for the environment—are still advised to make the most of the city’s excellent public transportation system. Leave your car at one of the many park and ride car parks, and make the comfortable journey into the city by U- or S-Bahn, completely stress-free. <<<
