Kunsthalle celebrates the return of figurative painting
Despite the many new, modern art forms on the market, figurative painting is making a comeback. According to experts, people are currently willing to pay remarkable prices for works by young artists—oeuvres by painters of the “Leipziger Schule,” for instance, are bringing significant sums of money both here and abroad. for instance this month, the
Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung (Theatinerstrasse 8, Tel. 22 44 12) will open its latest exhibition, Zurück zur Figur, some 120 pictures, all of which were painted after the year 2000, by 80 international artists. The exhibition is the first critical overall view of figuration in the 21st century. It runs from June 2 until August 13, and is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm. <<<
