July 2006
Euroscience Conference at the Deutsches Museum
From July 15 to 19, the second pan-European general science conference will be held at the Forum am Deutschen Museum and the Deutsches Museum. Euroscience Open Forum 2006 is hosted by Wissenschaft im Dialog (WiD), a nonprofit organization founded by the most significant research-funding organizations in Germany. WiD’s purpose is to promote interaction and dialogue between science and the general public. With the theme “New Research—New Technology—New Thinking,” the conference will include such fascinating seminars, workshops and presentations as: “Myths of Science: Glowing Monkeys, Wonder Dogs and More”; “A New Look at the Ocean”; “Clusters: From the Nanoworld to Neurons and Galaxies”; “How Many Homes for E.T.?”; “Top Scientific Career Paths”; and much more. All lectures and discussions will be held in English. For a lengthy list of activities, rates and registration requirements (single-day passes, for instance, range from € 87 to € 166, and for all four days, the rates are € 261 to € 290), visit www.esof2006.org. WiD will also sponsor “Through the World of Bits and Bytes: Wissenschaftssommer in München,” a week-long festival featuring a science fair in the Marienhof, a science film festival at Mathäser Filmpalast, a display of computer games, both old and new, and even an open-air theater. The festival will take place at various locations from July 15 to July 21. Visit
