September 2006
Open Art 2006
The presence of the Pinakothek museums on Munich’s cultural landscape has made the city world-renowned as a center for the arts. These same behemoths, however, often overshadow the rich diversity of smaller galleries flourishing here. In a reminder of the many indoor pleasures that Munich offers art lovers, on the weekend of September 8 to 10, 65 galleries will welcome the city back from vacation with Open Art 2006. The event, which costs just € 5 for all that viewing pleasure, will feature a bus shuttle to ensure easy access to all sites. Those who find such selection overwhelming can focus in on one or more of the following gallery-rich neighborhoods and take advantage of guided tours: Maximillianstrasse, Lehel, Maxvorstadt, and the Gaertnerplatzviertel.
