A Blaue Reiterin Across America
Before painter Gabriele Münter became the darling of Wassily Kandinsky, and the Expressionists in general, she was a nineteen-year-old German traveling through the American southwest with her sister and a Leica camera. From September 30 to January 14, the Lenbachhaus will present 100 of these rarely-seen travel photographs. Other images taken on trips throughout Europe and Africa with Wassily Kandinsky will round out the exciting and unique collection—an extraordinary glance at Münter’s artistic eye from another perspective.
