Alice in Wonderland at the Internationale Jugendbibliothek
Lewis Carroll’s curious little blonde turns 150 this year. In celebration, the Internationale Jugendbibliothek (International Youth Library), housed in Schloss Blutenberg in Obermenzing, will present
Alice in Wonderland—Images from 1865 to the Present, a collection of various illustrations of the classic tale, created by a variety of artists. Selections from 500 editions of the work, in at least 40 languages, will be also be on display alongside fascinating historical information. The Cheshire Cat, Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter will await their admirers, upstairs in the museum’s “Schatzkammer,” for more than a year, from the exhibition opening on September 14, 2006, at 6:30 pm, through October 15, 2007. The exhibition is open Mon.–Fri., 10am–4 pm, and weekends 2 pm–5 pm. To get to the library, visitors may take the S-Bahns 4, 5, 6 or 8 to Pasing, and then Bus 56 or 160 to the “Blutenburg” stop. It is also accessible by Autobahn A8.
