Images of Italian Design
Whether Pop, Arte Povera or Purist, the silverware, glass, lights and sofas of the Italian design house Driade have helped generations of customers to live artfully. The workshop has also produced countless stories of success on the world stage: Such internationally acclaimed designers as Philippe Starck, Boris Sipek and Tokujin Yoshioka got their start designing at the company, founded as a family business by Enrico Astori in 1968. The Neue Sammlung design collection at the Pinakothek der Moderne is now offering an overview of this vast universe--Il Cosmo Driade--in an exhibition of the same name, on display until January 28, 2007. The exhibition focuses on the creations of the design house, while considering it
within the wider context of the rich
history of Italian design.
