Photographs by Gabriele Münter
From February 10–June 3, the Lenbachhaus will feature a sequel to the recent exhibit of images from photographer Gabriele Münter. While the first exhibit considered Münter’s early development & a trip to America, “The Years with Kandinsky: Photographs, 1902–1914,” will display photographs taken during the most critical period of her career, including a 1904 to 1908 world trip with paramour and fellow Blauer Reiter painter Wassily Kandinsky. On display will be photographs taken in Holland, Tunisia, Paris & South Tyrol, as well as later paintings, sketches and graphics that the trip inspired. It’s an opportunity to consider the mutual development of these artistic giants from new starting points.
