Latin-American Film Festival
A surrealist, atheist, and glo-bal citizen, filmmaker Luis Buñuel (1900–1983) left the mark of his unique personality on each of his films. He was also one of the first successful Latin American filmmakers, and as such, remains an inspiring model for such modern artists as Alejandro González Iñárritu and Pedro Almodóvar. A Latin-American Film Festival at Gasteig will feature the films of others who follow “Las huellas de Buñuel” (Buñuel’s Footsteps). From March 1 to 9, the lecture room of the Stadtsbibliothek at Gasteig will host as many as three showings each day, some of which will be subtitled in English.
