BMW World
The soaring spire of the Olympiaturm and glistening BMW headquarters have been joined by another impressive architectural feat in Obermenzing, north of Munich: The glass curves of the new BMW World have finally taken shape on the construction site near Olympiapark. The € 100-million building, designed by Austrian architects Coop Himmelb(l)au, will be both an event and distribution center for the auto manufacturer. Exclusive models of cars and motorcycles will be presented throughout the build-ing’s 5000 square meters. Visitors also will be able to view multimedia presentations, and pick up their own BMW off of the assembly line, beginning this summer. Be on the lookout for an upcoming Landmark piece to coincide with the opening of this structure and the
new BMW Museum in a
few months.
