Otto Mueller in Regensburg
As one of Germany’s premier Expressionist artists, “die Brücke” member Otto Mueller was also perhaps one of its most diverse: Though famed for his paintings, he also dabbled in lithography, woodcuts, pen drawings, and series. For the first time in Germany, the Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie in Regensburg is hosting an exhibition of his graphic work, drawn from the private Karsch Collection, until March 18. More than 200 of these lesser-known prints are on display, including the famous “Gypsy Series” from the 1920s. Five Mueller paintings round out the retrospective of the artist. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Thursday until 8 pm. Entry costs € 4, and is free on the third Sunday of each month. After viewing the gorgeous medieval architecture of the Altstadt, take bus line 6 or 11 to the stop “Kunstforum Ostdeutsche,” located in a park just west of the city.
