Former Police bassist and lead singer Sting, a.k.a. Gordon Sumner, has enjoyed great solo success since the days of punk and New Wave. Innovative, thought-provoking
albums such as The Dream of the Blue Turtles and The Soul Cages, have rightfully earned the Londoner with the raspy voice his piece of the music-chart pie. But those days appear — we hope only temporarily — to be over. There is nothing new in Sting’s Brand New Day. The CD contains 10 songs — a mélange of tedious tunes, ridiculous lyrics and a few funky moments — none of which, after the initial listen, is memorable.
