Africa in Music & Food
Circus Roncalli co-founder and multimedia artist André Heller has brought a new creation to Munich: AFRIKA! AFRIKA! is a dance and music extravaganza paired with a dinner of culinary highlights from the continent. The 120 performers include Egyptian sword jugglers, Congolese contortionists and Tanzanian pole acrobats moving to a mix of traditional African beats and new urban rhythms. George Momboye, a world leader of African dance and training, choreographed the performance. The audience, meanwhile, can enjoy a sit-down meal (€ 119) or several more affordable menus, from quick “Dakarai Snacks” of chili-marinated chicken skewers (€ 39), to the “Walking Kajumba” dinner with nearly 14 dishes such as baked shrimp with tomato relish and rabbit with hot hummus & coriander rolls (€ 89). Doors open 75 minutes before the show, so there is time to explore an African bazaar and art exhibit. Playing from November 8 to January 12 at the Zeltpalästen (tent palace) at Orleansstrasse north of the Ostbahnhof.
