November 2007
Student Film Fest & More
For those awaiting the annual Verzaubert - International Queer Film Festival—usually held in November—it has been moved to Spring 2008. There’s no need to retire to the couch in the meantime though, as the International Festival of Film Schools runs from November 17 to 24 at the Munich Film Museum on St.-Jakobs-Platz. The event’s pre-selection committee watched 306 movies and chose 39 films from 27 schools in 20 countries to qualify for the competition. Finalists include films from Canada, the U.S.A., Great Britain, Taiwan, India, Israel and Germany, among others. Nine awards totaling € 50,000 will be decided by the end of the festival, including the prestigious Young Talent Award for Best Feature, which earns the winner € 7,500. For residents, the festival offers a chance to explore current film trends and meet the top directors of the next generation. The jury president is top cinematographer Michael Ballhaus.

These movies spotlight the everyday lives of people with disabilities, both physical and psychological. The juried festival is accompanied by discussions and workshops. <<<
