Fiona Tan Installation
In “80 Days,” film and video artist Fiona Tan questions the use of photography as a means of archiving the world. Inspired by Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days, Tan blurs the line of fiction and reality with a collage comprised of archive material, photographs and film footage. It stands as the centerpiece of the exhibit, alongside two other major photography installations. Tan’s background - born in Indonesia, raised in Australia and living in Amsterdam - gives those works a unique perspective on culture and history. The exhibit runs through January 6 at the Pinakothek der Moderne.
