The biggest selection, especially of South African wines and meats, is at the Galeria Kaufhof at Stachus. The Wein Bauer (Wasserburger Landstr. 169) is an African specialties shop that carries beverages, as well as biltong, boerewors and droi wors. The “best lamb chop” award! “We South Africans will go to great lengths for a lamb cutlet and in Munich they are hard to find
because the butchers tend to cut them lean.” Her pick is this Greek restaurant where “you can see the meat, bone and fat.”

The Waldwirtschaft in Pullach
Located above the banks of the Isar close to the Grosshesseloher Brücke, the Waldwirtschaft is Olckers’ favorite beer garden. There is an informal garden under the trees and a lovely formal restaurant.

For bringing pieces of the continent into your home, try these two shops: Elephant World for wall hangings, zebra-skin items, lampshades and pocketbooks and Style Africa, a design shop, with objects and textiles.
