A Spectacular Month

Historical adventures, magic and exotic beauty will hit the city’s sta-ges throughout the month of January. From January 2 through January 13, the Deutsches Theater will present Legends of the Storm, depicting the fate of the Caucasus peoples over the centuries. A special highlight will be the appearance of terpsichorean athletes, the only dancers in the world who are able to toe dance wearing only leather slippers. Horse and theater lovers alike will be mesmerized by Apassionata at the Olympiahalle. Europe’s most successful horse gala will be accompanied by Japanese Taiko drums and samba rhythms: a fantastic interplay of animal temperament und human artistry that will be an unforgettable event. Performances are scheduled on January 5 at 8 pm and January 6,7 at 3 pm and 8 pm. Tickets are available at VVK outlets for € 25-110.
The Chinese National Circus has a twenty-year history of fusing Chinese culture with breathtaking acrobatics. For one night only, they will perform in the Herkulessaal on January 6 at 8 pm. Tickets are on sale at VVK outlets for € 34.50-45.70.
At the end of the month the annual Holiday on Ice spectacular will present its latest manifestation at the Olympiahalle: Mystery. From January 30 to February 10, audiences will follow little Alice to “Jazz-land,” populated by elves and other fairy tale creatures all on skates. Magdalena Brzeska—the “Claudia Schiffer” of gymnastics and twenty six time German championship winner—will be the special guest. Performances start Wednesday through Friday at 8 pm, Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 6 pm. There will be matinee shows on Saturday at 2:30 pm and Sundays at 1 pm.
