No More Outsiders

This winter, there’s no reason to send your favorite summer activities into hibernation. Bavaria’s largest indoor golf training center opened recently in Germering on the outskirts of Munich. The H.M. Golf center offers a 250-square-meter putting green, 14 large driving ranges and two golfing simulators using the latest technology. For more information, see www.indoorgolf-muc.de. Indoor Golf Munich at Maximilianstr. 2 also maintains two simulators in which golf enthusiasts can tee off on the world’s best known courses, from Castle Pines to Pebble Beach. The simulators must be booked in advance at www.indoorgolfmunich.de or by calling 54 44 46 99. Lightweight white balls also bounce in the winter season at Schellingsalon. This traditional tavern at Schellingstrasse 54 has established a “Sports and Games Zone” with a table tennis set. The table is available by the first come, first served principle. To play real tennis at the Sportscheck Allwetteranlage, no club membership is required. Just call 99 28 74 200 and book one of 12 indoor tennis courts with sand, carpet or rebound ace flooring. The all-weather facility at Münchnerstrasse 15 is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 11 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 7:30 am to 9 pm. For further details see www.allwetteranlage.de. Passionate climbers can train their skills at sports supplier Sporthaus Schuster. Schuster’s main store on Rosenstr. 1–5, has constructed a 25-meter wall replicating a steep cliff. Experienced and novice climbers alike are welcome to defy the wall Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 8 pm. The wall and attendant equipment are a free service by Sporthaus Schuster. <<<
