Back to Nature
Dagmar Lezuo, spokeswoman of the city’s building department, describes the construction work beneath Wittelsbacher Bridge as the “Isar’s ongoing liberation.” Three-fourths of the so-called “Isarplan” to recreate the river’s natural arroyo have already been completed. Now, the bank reinforcement alongside Wittelsbacherstrasse will be demolished and reused as stone piles in the riverbed, giving fish a resting place from the Isar rapids. The slope of the east bank will be flattened and planted with herbs to facilitate access for swimmers. The construction work extending the local recreation area—which has been established from Thalkirchen to Brudermühl Bridge over the past seven years—is due to be finished this spring. <<<
