The Milchbar Relocates
Apart from the notorious P1, few clubs have gained legendary status in Munich’s nightlife scene. Over the past few years, however, the Milchbar has managed to rival the P1 discotheque’s air of exclusiveness and hedonism. The Milchbar opened ten years ago at Kunstpark Ost and then, when the Kunstpark party zone closed down, moved to the adjacent Optimol compound. Now the club—which, within days after it first opened its doors, gave up selling milkshakes in favor of cocktails—will relocate once again. Owners Florian and Jakob Faltenbacher will finally leave the Ostbahnhof area for the city center. On February 1 the Milchbar will open above the Atelier + City movie theater at Sonnenstr. 12. Broad windows hope to lure the party crowd to enjoy a panoramic view. Though the location’s view is spectacular, two clubs in a row have failed in the past to attract revelers to this very site. It will be a challenge for the Faltenbacher brothers to prove that the Milchbar can maintain its reputation for being one of the hottest party spots in town. <<<
