March 2008
Formula Vau
Bringing motor sport to the masses was the goal of the legendary Formula Vau at its late-1960s inception. Parts of the VW Käfer were used to create a smaller racecar that soon became popular with motor sport fans. Niki Lauda, Keke Rosberg, Emerson Fittipaldi and other eventual Formula 1 racing champions started their careers in this series. Today, the historical racecars are enjoying an astonishing renaissance. Through March 30, the
Verkehrszentrum (Traffic Center) of the Deutsches Museum presents an exhibition on the history and technology of Formula Vau. Alongside exhibits of Formula Vau, rare Formula 1 racecars
of former Formula Vau pilots will be also on display. A € 5 entrance fee will be charged for this exhibition. <<<
