Parking Zone at Hauptbahnhof
Spotting a parking spot in Munich often produces Kafkaesque frustration: As if some unknown force is pulling the strings, it is always the car in front of you that gets the right spot at the right time. For inhabitants of areas with parking fees, fighting for a free place to park is especially nerve-racking. As of April, the stress of car owners who live in the Hauptbahnhof area will be relieved through the issuance of parking permits. A new parking zone spanning from Paul-Heyse-Strasse and Marsstrasse/Elisenstrasse to Landwehrstrasse will be established for residents. Free parking will be made available at all short-term parking spots, with exceptions at the Bahnhofsplatz and Arnulfstrasse, where the maximum parking period is only one hour. For all other streets within the area, residents may apply for a parking permit from the city. To get the permit, which costs € 30 per year, write to Landeshauptstadt München, Kreisverwaltungsreferat, Hauptabteilung III – Verkehrs- überwachung, 80466. With your application, enclose a copy of your vehicle registration ticket. You can also fax all documents to 23 33 97 37 or download an application at
