Olafur Eliasson
Collaborations with Louis Vuitton or the World Economic Forum in Davos have shown that Danish installation artist Olafur Eliasson has no fear of setting his work in diverse contexts. From May 29 to July 20, the design section of the Pinakothek der Moderne will display a recent work by Eliasson commissioned by BMW. Under the title “Your Mobile Expectations: BMW H2R Project,” a BMW racecar run on hydrogen will be presented for the first time to the public, thus proving that extreme speed and environmental compatibility are not mutually exclusive. For the H2R prototype, Eliasson has created a fragile outer shell made out of ice. The work will be the 16th item in the “BMW Art Car Collection,” to which Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Jenny Holzer have already contributed pieces. <<<
