Music review of Warren Zevon's Life'll Kill Ya
Warren Zevon**** Life’ll Kill Ya (Epic)Perhaps no pop musician has experienced as tragic a career as Warren Zevon. The 53-year-old hit the scene in the late 1960s, going on to release one grand album after the other. It was only in 1978 that the Chicago native received mainstream recognition for his work, topping charts with the howling “Werewolves of London.” But instead of promoting himself, Zevon opted for years of substance abuse. Now, the older and wiser rocker is back with Life’ll Kill Ya, a work that stands up to the likes of Jackson Browne and Neil Young. Zevon is arguably the best songster in the world — too bad no one knows.
