The Munich International School's festival
At this time of year, it is not difficult to find Frühlingsfeste in Munich about which to report. But one spring festival stands apart from the rest — that of the Munich International School (MIS). On Saturday, May 27, at 11:00, a parade of children will kick off the day of fun for the local English-speaking community. Early birds can peruse the merchandise at the festival flea market, which begins at 10:00. Bargains abound, and since many of the student’s parents remain in Munich for only two or three years, most items are in very good condition. A wide variety of food and drink will be available at the multicultural picnic. The monastery brewery of Andechs will serve its amber libation in a 250- by 24-meter beer tent. Games and other activities, such as the “bouncing castle” or a colorful carousel, will be on hand for the young crowd. In the 30 years this fair has been held, it has become increasingly popular, and, as the school gratefully expresses in its festival literature, “it is always nice to be part of a success story.”
