Music review of Kent's Hagnesta Hill
Hagnesta Hill (RCA)
Kent is, without a doubt, the Swedish answer to Brit pop wonders Oasis, Blur or The Verve. The quintet is, however, fresher and more exciting than all those bands put together. Having studied such classic acts as The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and the Beatles, Kent has the advantage of having lived in Scandinavia, not England, where the temptation to copy is great. Though Hagnesta Hill contains catchy melodies, the band’s unusual instrumentation lends a unique signature sound to the work. It would seem that the true Brit pop of the new millennium stems from Kaff Eskilstuna, Sweden!
