Music review of Pretty Things' Latest Writs - Greatest Hits
Latest Writs — Greatest Hits (Snapper Records)
A funny thing happened on the way to Pretty Things’ stardom. During their “hot streak” in the 1960s, when Mick Jagger and Keith Richards considered them to be little more than harmless choirboys, the public all but ignored them. In the last few years, however, rereleases of the band’s work have put them in the spotlight for the first time. Pretty Things has a 40-year career behind it. In the 1960s they played R & B, in the 1970s they covered punk and the 1980s found them dabbling in pub ditties. Latest Writs — Greatest Hits does justice to this band’s extensive musical portfolio.
