Vegetarian sign for meat-free edibles

For those shoppers who sometimes wonder whether the ominous ingredient Hühnereiweiss (chicken protein) refers to chicken meat or only to egg white, a new "V" seal will now give them an answer. Following its successful launch in other European countries, the V seal issued by the European Vegetarian Union is now being introduced in Germany. Only after a product has been rigidly tested by an independent nutrition laboratory will meat-free edibles be honored with this stamp of quality. Though the Vegetarian Seal is not being issued very often at present, the door seems to have been opened to help customers recognize a vegetarian product at first sight rather than having to decode the myriad ingredients listed on product packages. <<< KA
