A request to help improve the magazine.

A good magazine serves its readers. In the last few months we have received a lot of mail. We read each letter eagerly. Some cause us to blush at our mistakes, others put a smile on our faces in knowing that we have pleased a reader. But the letters we like best are those that contain suggestions about how we can improve. Of course not everyone has the time to sit down and pound out a note to us, so we've made things easier by including a reader survey in this month’s issue. The last survey Munich Found conducted was in 1995 and was sent out as a mailing to subscribers only. Since only about 15% of our readers are subscribers, there are still a lot of people we haven't heard from. We think the demographic profile of our audience is not only diverse, but that it has changed recently. We want to be sure the magazine contains something for everyone and the only way we can do that is with your help. You will find the survey on page 39. Please tear it out, fill it in and fax it or mail it back to us. As a way of thanking our readers for taking the time to answer our questions, every survey response will be entered in a raffle – the grand prize being a weekend for two at Schloss Matzen. We've included a short article about this bed and breakfast housed in a medieval castle on page 11 so you can read up on what could be in store for you. In travel this month we feature two appealing destinations that can be reached in less than 90 minutes from Munich. The Bavarian lakes, Chiemsee and Waging am See offer two very different kinds of weekend fun. Relaxing at the tranquil Fraueninsel is an ideal way to recharge the battery and gourmets will find a slice of extraordinary Bavarian cuisine at Waging am See. If the thought of heavy traffic causes you to lose your appetite, then check out the Arts section for reports about exhibitions going on in Munich this month. Dream City is taking place at several locations around the city and is, for modern and conceptual art buffs, an interesting way to spend a day. On the lighter side, is an exhibition about the history of Bavarian radio filled with interactive displays, funky media material and intriguing facts. And finally, in our feature, Tom Krupp recounts the outrageous story of a 19th century woman who changed her name, threw Munich into turmoil and brought a king to his knees. We here at Munich Found look forward to reading all of your survey responses. Our goal is a magazine that serves all our readers by continuing to grow in accordance with your needs and wishes. Thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to let us know what you think of your Munich Found.
