Water Works
A lake as an exhibition site? This unusual idea will be realized in Munich’s English Garden, from September 2 to 23, when the park’s Kleinhesseloher See will harbor an installation called “robinsonsyndrom2.” On opening night, at 8:30 pm, the public is invited to watch (free-of-charge) as one thousand goldfish are transferred to a huge 35-column aquarium, whose base rests on the bottom of the lake. To inaugurate the living exhibition, eleven dervish monks will dance and pray. The aquarium will also serve as a stage on four nights—September 8 to 12—when the public is invited to participate in the world premiere of a theater production by rowboats on the lake. The theater production itself can be viewed daily at 8:30 pm. For tickets, call
Tel. 62 42 06 58. For those worried about the animal rights issue, exhibition organizers assure that the goldfish will be cared for in accordance with the regulations of the nature conservation union.
