Lang Nacht der Museen
From potatoes to Picasso (Kartoffelmuseum, Haus der Kunst)—Munich’s largest annual cultural event, Die Lange Nacht der Münchner Museen, draws more than 40,000 art enthusiasts every year. Beginning Saturday, October 20, at 7 pm from Odeonsplatz, shuttle buses will chauffeur museum-goers to 80 sites throughout the city until 2 am. In its third year, the event will encompass exhibits, collections, guided tours and concerts—not only in museums and galleries, but the Residence and Nymphenburg Palace as well. This year a program for children (ages 6–14) has been planned. In the afternoon (2 pm–6 pm) a number of museums will offer hands-on fun and guided tours for kids. Tickets (DM 20) can be purchased at event locations as well as at advance ticket sales locations throughout Munich. Program and ticket information can be obtained at www.muenchner.de, or by calling (089) 30 61 00 41. Tickets are sold at (089) 54 81 81 81.
