Did You Know?
Munich has more cultural institutions than any other city in Germany: 58 theaters, 45 museums, 250 art galleries, 130 libraries and 80 cinemas, which goes to show that it is not only Oktoberfest and Fasching that attracts tourists from all over the world!
Lovers of the Deutsches Museum should visit it soon! By the summer, many exhibits will be removed and stashed away until May of 2003, when a new traffic museum will open on Theresienhöhe, where cars and trains will find their new home. In turn, a center for new technologies and attractive “techy” playgrounds for kids as well as an auditorium will be added
to the museum’s numerous offerings.
The Hellabrunn zoo has added yet another attraction to its grounds. Chimpanzees and gorillas have been moved to the spacious new Jungle House, leaving their former cramped quarters behind. Some visitors say that the animals “already look much happier” than
they did in their old abode. The new building is also home to a crocodile-filled terrarium, anacondas and a coral reef.
