Saturday Art Fever
Saturday Art Fever
On Saturday, October 19, Munich’s art scene merges once again with the city’s nightlife in the fourth annual Lange Nacht der Münchner Museen. From 7 pm to 2 am more than 80 museums, galleries and collections will participate in what has become one of Munich’s largest cultural events. In addition to their permanent collections and current exhibitions, many of the participating venues will present special programs for one night only. The Deutsches Museum will host live jazz, flamenco and bossa nova music while Schloss Nymphenburg will present Italian theatrical pieces performed in historical costume. A special children’s program from 2 pm to 6 pm features tours and activities, including jewelry-making at the Münchner Stadtmuseum, a fire safety course at the Feuerwehrmuseum (Museum of Firefighting) and African body art at the Staatliches Museum für Völkerkunde. Odeonsplatz will be the starting point for a shuttle bus service along four museum routes starting at 7 pm. Tickets cost € 15 for adults and € 2.50 for children and can be purchased either in advance or at all participating locations that evening.
